Terms of Service for Best of Baltic (BoB)

Welcome to Best of Baltic (BoB). The "Best of Baltic" portal is operated by the Institute of Neuro- und Bioinformatik (INB) of the University of Lübeck as a lead partner for the EU Interreg Project "Best of Baltic". By using this portal, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Purpose of BoB

   BoB is an online platform that allows companies, enterprises, and private users to calculate and publicly share their ecological handprint. The goal is to foster a supportive community encouraging positive steps toward a more sustainable world.

2. Use of the Handprint Score

   Calculation of the Score and Minimum Score

   A BoB jury sets a minimum score for each year, which is required to participate in the BoB movement. If your score does not reach this minimum, your profile on the BoB portal will be accordingly marked.

   No Greenwashing

   The BoB handprint score must not be used as a label or certification for marketing, advertising or any other form of greenwashing.

   Movement, not a Label

   Achieving the minimum score defined by the BoB Jury does not mean your organization is officially “green” or certified. Instead, it simply recognizes your participation in the BoB movement—people and organizations inspiring each other to make small, positive changes.

   Transparency

   All data you provide for your public profile (including ecological handprint, photos, and website links) should be accurate and honest. When your score is published on the web portal, users can report to info@best-of-baltic.com if the information appears to be incorrect.

3. User Responsibilities

   Company & Enterprise Users:

   You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of all information, photos, and links you publish.

   Private Users

   You may use the calculator anonymously and are not required to provide any personal information. Any photos you upload it is your responsibility that you have the right to do so and that the photos do not violate any ethical standards.

   Respectful participation

   All users are required to treat each other respectfully and adhere to ethical standards. Misuse, misleading information or abuse of the platform can lead to removal or restriction of access.

4. Data and privacy

   Your use of BoB is also subject to our Privacy Policy.

   We only use essential cookies for secure operation and language settings.

5. Intellectual Property

   The BoB platform, design and content are the property of the University of Lübeck.

   You retain the rights to the content you upload, but grant BoB a license to display this content on the portal.

6. Liability

   The University of Lübeck provides BoB "as is" and does not guarantee correctness, completeness or uninterrupted availability.

   We are not liable for damages arising from the use or misuse of the platform or the handprint score or from applying the individual steps.

7. Changes to these Terms

   We reserve the right to change these Terms at any time. Changes will be published on this page. Continued use of BoB after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
