Privacy Policy for Best of Baltic (BoB)

The "Best of Baltic" portal is operated by the Institute of Neuro- und Bioinformatik (INB) of the University of Lübeck as a lead partner for the EU Interreg Project "Best of Baltic". We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and relevant German data protection laws.

1. Who we are

2. What data we collect and why
   a. Corporate and company users
   When you register as a company or firm, we collect the data you provide to create your public profile, including your company name, ecological handprint data, photos and website links.
   This information will be published on the portal to display your ecological handprint and sustainability efforts as well as any BoB events you offer.
   You control the content of your public profile and can update or remove it at any time.
   b. Private Nutzer
   Private users can also calculate their ecological handprint anonymously.
   We do not require or collect personal data from private users. If you wish to be found on the BoB portal, you must use a valid email address and wait for a confirmation email.
   If you want your profile to be public, you must be at least 16 years old.
   c. Cookies
   We only use absolutely necessary cookies required for the operation of the portal, such as for login (username, password) and language settings.
   No tracking, analytics or advertising cookies are used.
   You can disable cookies in your browser, but then some functions may not work properly.
3. How we use and share your data
   Company profiles and their made handprint information will be made public in the context of the portal goal to promote ecological transparency.
   Private user data will not be made public or shared, unless you have decided so (and you are at least 16 years old).
   We do not share your data with third parties, unless this is legally required or necessary for the technical operation of the portal.
4. Your Rights
   You have the right,
   to access your data, to correct or delete it (for corporate users),
   to withdraw your consent at any time (if applicable),
   to object to the processing of your data,
   Lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority (e.g., the Independent Center for Data Protection Schleswig-Holstein).
5. Data Security
   We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including secure transmission (SSL/TLS) and restricted access.
